Olivia's is one of the best restaurants in City Market. The egg and cheese breakfast sandwich is a wonderful grilled sandwich on Texas toast. The best kept secret is that they serve Illy coffee from Europe. I'm hooked.
Lunch at Olivia's is also a 'can't miss'. My favorites are the herbed chicken and fontina cheese and the mesquite turkey sandwich.
Reading the reviews, I must say I agree with the majourity of them. The food is indeed fresh and tastey (every morsel). The line can be long, but that only tells you how busy this place is, how much the people like it and how much they're willing to go through to get some of this food for lunch or something. The wait is quite worth it. The owner does interact with you (very briefly- he's very busy) when he gets the chance. The cashier is very thoughtful to your wants and needs and will substitute certain things and subtract certain things and add on certain things. You do have a choice. Lovely. The bill fits the quality and portion and all is well. did I mention that their salad bar is fresh? Good Eats.
I've been here many times over and over again. It's always busy and bustling and the lines can be very long- but the wait is always worth it. The price of these sandwiches may look pricey, but the quality and the amount of food really fits the price. Better yet: it's more like a great deal. Food is fresh and mouthwatering to perfection. And , Chris- it looks like it's time to expand or get more supplies, because second to last time or so I was there, they ran out of their usual french baguette and used ciabatta as a substitute. The quality , of course, did not change, just the bread. Running out of your normal bread tells you that you are getting mroe people.
The salad bar is great. The veggies are always clean and fresh. You can tell that Chris takes great pride in his business and the preparation of his food. The food preparers are so curtious and always make it a point to turn around an speak. I have really liked that place from the first day I ate there. CAFE OLIVIA!!

WOW..... This place is simply amazing.
You get a great quality meal thats comes with an amazing price.
The sandwiches never cease to amaze me. All of the dishes are made with such amazing perfection and it satisfies my tastes buds to the extreme. The sandwiches are truly authentic and they taste like what you would find at a sit-down restraunt rather than a deli in the city market.
A 10 out of 10 without any regret.

Cafe Olivia definately has style and taste. Cafe Olivia brings in top shelf deli cuts (Boars Head) and always has fresh ingredients (their salad bar is also always fresh and that does include fruit). The sandwiches are always delectable, such as Pain Bagnet, the Godfather, the Mediterrean, Prosciutto, provlone &spinach, the Fresh mozzarella, tomato &zucchini. Sandwiches are not the only things that are born tentalizing in this City Market jewel- full dishes such as Brazilian Black Beans and Pork and their Herb Chicken are completely fingerlicking.
It's a joy to watch the chef himself prepare and finish each meal, and their cashier, Sung, is always smiling.
All in all- for the prices that they set, the food is definately worth it. The quality is higher even for a Simple Ham and Cheese sandwich (no nasty ham or cisco meat here).
This place is wonderful. There is nothing like having a gourmet chef in the City Market. It is amazing to just watch your food being made. The care and attention paid to each meal only adds to the intensely delicious tastes. Thank you Olivias!
