G.T. SOUTH’S takes pride in bringing you authentic barbecue cooked in the Southern tradition. The finest quality meats are smoked with hickory wood up to twelve hours in one of our two huge pits. To enhance the barbecue flavor, each cut of meat is seasoned with our own special blend of spices. Down South, barbecue chefs will argue endlessly over whose barbecue is best, but one thing they will agree on: “Cook it low and smoke it slow.” Our side dishes and desserts also receive the same special care. I found GT South's when I worked in Beech Grove. Loved their pulled pork. One nite I took home the pulled pork, baked beans and the brisket. What a hit. We live on the northside and didn't realize they had a location on 71st street. Its always a big decision for my husband whether to get the pulled pork or the rib tips. My mother in law got the pulled smoked chicken and it is really really good. I , however, am a sucker for good brisket and South's is the best. Oh go ahead....try the sampler platter.

We have been eating at GT South's for years, but a few weeks ago, we walked out--grossed out! Since Travis (the owner) died, it seems the quality has been going down hill, but now they seem to have a major gnat problem! Who is running the ship now? Why hasn't an exterminator been called? Get your act together, GT South's! It would be a shame to let an Indianapolis tradition go down the tubes!

We stumbled onto this restaurant one evening and I'm glad we did! Excellent food at reasonable prices. Service was fast and friendly. I will be back! Also -- take the kids -- they will love it too!

Unlike most BBQ, they actually smoke their meat. This gives their meat excellent flavor. Good value for the money, great flavor. Try the briskit or the BBQ nachos. Best in town, unless you do it yourself.

Prior to living in Memphis for 10 years, I didn't even like BBQ. Having spent time there, I've grown to love it. G.T. South's is the closest thing to Memphis BBQ outside of Memphis that I've found.
