Open since 1994, Oaken Barrel is a brewpub - a combination restaurant and brewery. The restaurant includes a family section, two bars, the outside dining area, and a small banquet facility. Brewmaster Ken Price's gourmet ales and lagers complement Oaken Barrel's Nouveau-American menu which boasts a variety of salads, sandwiches, and entrees. Favorites include Mesquite-Smoked Ribs, Shepherd's Pie, and Cajun Jambalaya Pasta.

I've been to every brewpub in Indy and Oaken Barrel has the best beer (Broadripple a close second). Their food is outstanding & reasonably priced. I occasionally get together with a group of friends from the northside and they always want to meet at Oaken Barrel.

The only wrong with the Oaken Barrel is that it isn't near us. A good pub has to have great food AND great beer; this place has both. My husband, the beer person, loves to try new beers and has never been disappointed. Me, I like to eat, the food has to be good or we aren't going back--our local brewpub hasn't figured that one out yet.. so when we go, we take our business elsewhere... preferring to drive out of town when the mood strikes. Oaken Barrel's raspberry beer is excellent and the food choices are hearty, well-prepared pub fair with a flair.

The OBBC has produced great beer since the day they opened. I know, I've been there.
The service, food, and atmosphere fully complement their brewing abilities.

The Razz wheat is unbeatable its the best tasting beer I have ever had.The Tarter sauce is great there as well.
