The Phoenix Theatre joined the Actors’ Equity Association in 1993, the national union which governs professional stage actors and stage managers. Since that time, Phoenix productions have featured professional casts. By becoming an Equity theatre, the theatre has made a commitment to the highest artistic standards. The Phoenix is one of only three theatres in central Indiana with Equity status.

The Phoenix consistently produces great theater that makes you think about important social and/or moral issues. Cutting-edge theater with a long track record for quality. I appreciate all the Indiana and even national premiers. You don't have to go to NYC or Chicago--we have a great theater right here!

Phoenix is my favorite theatre in Indianapolis. Always on the edge, always tight productions... I will go there before any other theatre in the city - professional equity theatre that hires Indiana actors - always a plus in my book! Can't wait to see Alter Boyz!

they are gutsy, they do performances that make you think, they challenge change, they truly follow their mission statement and haven't stopped following it for the past 25 years. AND, they work their buns off trying to break budget for every every risk that they take.

They produce original, avant guarde and cutting edge theatre. Their performances and production are tops and always have you leaving the theatre with a great theatre/acting experience. I believe they are celebrating their 25th year.
