WHUM COMMUNITY RADIO is a not-for-profit, non-commercial station. WHUM 98.5 Columbus & 98.3 Seymour are the most eclectic stations you will ever hear! WHUM is truly an 'island unto itself' in regards to music in these times. WHUM plays music that ha ... show mores international flavors to serve the musical needs of our growing diverse communities.
Our philosophy is that people are not one-dimensional, so why should a radio station be? Rather than program for one target market, we program for all demographics. WHUM is proud to present many eras and genres of music all mixed together 24/7. The only exception is Sunday mornings. That's when we devote five full hours to nothing but good ole hymns. It's the gospel that many Americans grew up with, but can no longer hear.
What do we mean by eclectic? Well, you may hear alternative followed by reggae, new age, blues, inca, classic country, medieval, Irish, & bluegrass yet don't be suprised when it's followed by folk, oldies, celtic, adult standards, classic rock, cajun, & adult contemporary. Have you got the idea yet? WHUM always keeps you guessing what could possibly be next!? Many listeners tell us WHUM is "addictive" since our variety just keeps you wanting more! Expect the unexpected!
A few conforming skeptics may wonder how we can go from Andrea Bocelli...to Richard Thompson...the Beatles...B.B. King...Johnny Cash...Mellencamp...Frank Sinatra...The Drifters...Dolly...Cher...and onto the late great Louis Armstrong. They'll ask us: "How can a mix like this possibly flow together?" It's easy because all the eras and genres are what our American Heritage music evolved from.
Forget those skeptics. Just relax and listen to WHUM. It will not take long before you soon realize how these songs all evolved from each other. Tune in for more surprises than any other radio station has the courage to offer you! Kick back & enjoy the adventure!

The HUM is all I ever listen to thanks to the epic variety you will not find anywhere else. I'm glad they stream this stellar station, so I can listen even when away on business trips. WHUM is always on!

Last Christmas, I heard the reindeer on my roof and they were humming along to WHUM, singing Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer. great variety of music and in today's vernacular, they are sick or in espanol, enferno, or crazy good. keep up the good work. i am waiting for some Jerry Jeff Walker.

What is your idea of the perfect radio station? One whose play list is built on your requests? One that soars above a landscape mosaic of musical genres, picking songs and pieces from anywhere it chooses? One that'll play stuff you never hear anywhere else or haven't heard for decades? One unbeholden to commercial enterprise? If so, then the HUM is your station, your spot on the dial, your purest spirit of radio.

We enjoy the HUM all day long. When we travel it is nice to know that we can tune in via the internet and hear "HUM sweet HUM."

College bound now, and I will be a long way from HUM! I will miss it so much! Thank goodness, I have found some of my faves from HUM, and downloaded them to my IPOD. Now I will be right at HUM, when I have my music next to me! Of course, it will be great to know you will be there on the air when I come back to the listening area. Thanks for bringing me such musical joy! HOPE YOU MAKE IT TO #1!!!!

I am a High School Hummer and love what HUM has to offer for the best musical mix, it's number ONE, of my radio pick! It's all about 98.5 or 98.3 for me!

a great opportunity to listen via the internet. I Know who I will be listening to on Christmas Eve. Santa John aka Santa Claus and Company Praise the Lord, the reindeer kicked up their heels when they heard Darlene Szech. Did not know Columbus spoke Australian. keep up the good work and know your station is heard at the north pole. Dancer now wants the music played louder, even on training runs.
